Sunday, December 26, 2010 -Bishop DiMarzio and the staff of Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens send their sincerest thanks to the parishioners of St. Mary Star of the Sea and St. Gertrude Parish for their generous contributions to the Christmas Collection for Catholic Charities.
Your gifts enable Catholic Charities to continue to work with the children and families of our diocese who are in need.
Please Note: ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL - 410 families from our parish pledged 79,705 to this year’s Annual Catholic Appeal. To date we have received 58,028.
If you have not yet completed your pledge, please do so by December 31st so that the parish will receive credit for your gift. We thank you one and all for your support.
Saturday, November 20, 2010 -The St. Mary's Alumni Association will
hold its annual Mass for deceased alumni at St. Mary Star of the Sea
Church on Saturday, November 20th, at 12:10 pm. We are
honored this year to have Msgr. Sean G. Ogle as celebrant. Msgr.
Ogle founded the alumni association, during his tenure as pastor, back
in 1995.
Please join us for this very special Eucharistic Celebration in memory
of our deceased alumni, and expression of love and support for their
family and friends. Msgr. Bracken has graciously invited all for
coffee, tea, cookies and cake in the rectory, immediately following
Mass (Lillian Higgins, Class of '50).

Tuesday, September 7, 2010 - Rev. Msgr. John J. Bracken has graciously accepted the assignment as temporary administrator of St. Mary Star of the Sea and St. Gertrude Parish in Far Rockaway, effective September 1, 2010.

impossible for you to afford? There are two excellent scholarship
programs available. Many families would be eligible for this help.
Tuition may be more reasonable than you realize.
For Pre-Kindergarten – children must be 4 years old by December 1, 2010. For Kindergarten – children must be 5 years old December 31, 2010.
There are limited spaces available in Grades 1 through 6. Students in
Grades 7 and 8 are considered only in special circumstances.
